Welcome Back + LAS Initiation 2023

Hello fellow Liberal Artists!

The LAS hopes you all had a pleasant summer break—that you actually read books for pleasure, spent time with family and friends and rested your hard-working minds.

That being said, the semester has officially been kicked-off with our annual Orientation (congratulations to all award-recipients and welcome to our new profs!) and now the time has come for our traditional LAS events.

First event of the year: Initiation!

The customary event of Initiation is not to initiate you into a cult (unless you want to), but to get first-years acquainted with one another through ice-breakers and games. As our program is relatively small, Initiation gives you the opportunity to forge connections with the people that you will literally see every day. For those of you who haven’t had the chance to get to know your classmates, this event is for you!

The event will take place September 14th at the park in the Ernest-Cormier Esplanade, located on the south side of René Lévesque Boulevard between du Fort and Saint-Marc at 5 PM. You’ll know you’re there when you see the Sculpture Garden.

Light snacks will be served on site as well as alcohol. We ask all attendees to keep their IDs handy, as we cannot legally serve alcohol to those under eighteen.

Since the event is primarily for first-year students at the College, we invite upper-years to join us later in the evening at 7 PM; they have at least one year in the program under their belt and can potentially bestow some wisdom upon first-years.

We hope you can join us for a lively evening among your peers and maybe, just maybe, you’ll catch a glimpse of a Greek god or two.

Onwards and upwards,

Your Academic Coordinator
